BAJAUR: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police, Daulat Khan, was killed in a sniper attack on the Badaan Police Post on Tuesday, officials said.
According to sources, militants belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij targeted ASI Khan while he was on duty. He sustained critical injuries and later succumbed to excessive bleeding.
Regional Police Officer Malakand, Syed Fida Hassan Shah, visited Bajaur, attended the funeral prayers at the Police Lines, and offered condolences to the bereaved family. The ceremony was attended by Muhammad Waqas Gomun, Deputy Commissioner Shahid Khan, District Police Officer Muhammad Khalid, senior officials, tribal elders, and members of civil society.
The body was later escorted to his native village, Ghakhi Mamond, for burial with full state honors.
RPO Malakand vowed that the terrorists involved would be brought to justice, emphasizing that the sacrifices of brave police officers like ASI Khan, who lay down their lives for the nation, will never be forgotten.
