TEHRAN: Iran has issued a stark warning that it will target Israel’s Dimona nuclear facility if the United States and Israel attempt regime change in the Islamic Republic, according to a semi-official report by ISNA on Wednesday.
A senior Iranian military official cited by ISNA emphasized that Tehran would respond decisively to any foreign intervention or conspiracy aimed at toppling the Iranian government. The official specifically named the Dimona nuclear reactor in Israel as a potential target, underscoring Iran’s capability to strike key sites if war is imposed.
“This is a clear warning: any attempts to impose regime change will meet with strong and calculated retaliation,” the official said, stressing Iran’s commitment to defending its sovereignty and political system. The statement highlighted that the response would serve as a deterrent against foreign interference in the country’s internal affairs.
The announcement comes amid intensified US and Israeli military operations targeting Iran. Overnight bombings were reported across multiple locations, including Tehran, where Israel claimed to strike military infrastructure and security command centers. Additional attacks were reported in Kermanshah, Tabriz, and Yazd, including residential areas.
Officials confirmed that the ongoing five-day assault has resulted in over 1,045 casualties, adding to mounting civilian and military losses across the country.
In a related development, US forces attacked an Iranian ship near Sri Lanka, killing 87 personnel and leaving several others missing. Saudi authorities also reported intercepting and destroying three cruise missiles near Al-Kharj, reflecting growing regional tensions.
The warnings and retaliatory statements from Iran mark a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, raising concerns over further military and geopolitical consequences across the Middle East.
