DERA ISMAIL KHAN: At least 14 civilians were injured, including four in critical condition, in a suicide blast near a security check post on Miranshah Main Road in North Waziristan during iftar on Friday, according to local sources.
The attack occurred near the Chashma Sarbandki check post when a suicide bomber detonated explosives close to the checkpoint, causing widespread panic. Security personnel reportedly opened fire immediately following the explosion, while police and rescue teams rushed to the scene to assist the injured.
Rescue officials transported the victims to a nearby hospital. Hospital authorities confirmed that 14 injured individuals were admitted. Medical Superintendent Dr Asif Iqbal stated that four of the injured are in critical condition while the others are receiving treatment, and no fatalities have been reported so far.
Following the blast, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. Authorities have also begun investigating the attack to determine its nature and identify the perpetrator.
