KARACHI: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of CIA Karachi carried out a major operation against drug traffickers in the Gulbahar area, arresting two key associates of an inter-provincial narcotics network linked to the Lyari gang war.
According to a spokesperson for SSP SIU/CIA Captain (Retd) Saddam Hussain, the operation was launched after receiving information about the presence of extortionists associated with the Lyari gang war. During the raid, two close associates of notorious inter-provincial drug dealer Asghar Baloch were arrested.
The arrested suspects were identified as Bahadur Ali and Imran Haider. Authorities recovered 8,570 grams (8.57 kg) of high-quality weed from their possession. Officials said the seized narcotics have an estimated international market value of around Rs110 million.Police said the suspects are close aides of Asghar Baloch, who is linked to a Lyari gang war extortionist group and is involved in inter-provincial drug trafficking.
A case has been registered against the suspects at the SIU police station, while efforts are underway to obtain their previous criminal record. Further investigation and legal proceedings are in progress.
