VATICAN CITY: Pope Leo XIV said people across the Middle East have been suffering the horrific violence of war for the past two weeks, as conflict continues to devastate communities in the region. Speaking during his weekly prayer address at the Vatican, the Catholic leader expressed deep concern over the human cost of the fighting.
The pontiff said thousands of innocent people had been killed and many more forced from their homes as the conflict intensified. He added that his prayers were with families who had lost loved ones in attacks on schools, hospitals and residential areas.
Pope Leo XIV urged those responsible for the crisis to move towards a ceasefire and reopen channels for dialogue. He stressed that violence could never bring the justice, stability and peace that the region urgently needs.
