DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Authorities have launched a crackdown against overcharging, overcrowding, and illegal rickshaws ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr on the directives of Commissioner Dera Division Dawood Khan.
Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Shaukat Iqbal visited several bus stations across the city to monitor transport arrangements. The move follows a meeting at the Commissioner’s office, attended by Assistant to the Commissioner (Political and Development) Sajjad Baloch, where key instructions were issued to improve public transport and prevent overcrowding during the holiday period.
The Commissioner directed strict regulation of Qingqi rickshaw routes and ordered action against illegal rickshaws, underage drivers, unregistered vehicles, and those operating from other districts. He also instructed the RTA Secretary to inspect all bus terminals to ensure adherence to official fare lists and review passenger facilities.
During his visits, Shaukat Iqbal checked fare compliance, waiting areas, and other arrangements, and warned transport operators against overcharging. He said ensuring public safety and convenience remained the top priority, adding that arrangements were being made to facilitate safe and comfortable travel for passengers during Eid.
The Commissioner said effective planning and monitoring of public transport would help maintain order and allow citizens to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with ease and safety.
