DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two volunteers of Ansar-ul-Islam were killed and one person injured when a vehicle in the convoy of Maulana Asjad Mahmood, son of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, skidded off the road near the CPEC Wanda York area following rain.
According to details, the accident occurred due to slippery road conditions caused by rainfall, leading to the vehicle losing control and going off the road. The deceased were identified as Maulana Qari Ehsanullah Haqqani and Maulana Junaid Ahmad, both residents of Lakki Marwat. One passenger was injured and shifted to a nearby hospital, while the driver reportedly remained unharmed. The vehicle was heavily damaged in the incident.
Expressing grief over the tragedy, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said he was deeply saddened by the loss and prayed for the departed souls to be granted a high place in Jannah, while also expressing sympathy and patience for the bereaved families. Maulana Asjad Mahmood also conveyed his sorrow, stating that he shared the grief of the families and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.
Funeral prayers for the deceased were held in Abdul Khel, led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and attended by a large number of people. Following the funeral, the bodies were transported to Lakki Marwat for burial. The incident has cast a shadow of mourning over the religious and political circles associated with the JUI-F and Ansar-ul-Islam.
