NEW DELHI: A growing gas shortage in India has forced businesses to shut down, with prices surging sharply and supply disruptions affecting daily operations across several sectors.
According to a report by The Economist, many restaurants have closed due to lack of gas supply, while fertiliser plants and other gas-dependent industries have also halted operations.
The report said the crisis has led to long queues in several cities, where residents are struggling to obtain gas cylinders amid worsening shortages.
The situation highlights mounting pressure on India’s energy sector as rising costs and supply constraints begin to impact both businesses and consumers.
