KARACHI: A 42-year-old man from the Garden area tragically died after contracting rabies from a dog bite, hospital officials confirmed.
Indus Hospital reported that the symptoms appeared about a month after the bite. The patient was admitted with fever, restlessness, and hydrophobia, a hallmark symptom of rabies.
Authorities highlighted that the death resulted from delayed or incomplete treatment, underscoring the critical importance of immediate post-exposure vaccination to prevent the fatal disease. Health experts urge residents to seek urgent medical care after any animal bite and to complete the full course of rabies vaccination.
Officials also stressed public awareness, noting that timely intervention can save lives and prevent the spread of rabies in communities.
