ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has called an important meeting today to discuss the evolving situation in the Middle East and Pakistan’s mediation efforts.
Sources said the meeting, chaired by President Zardari, is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, key federal ministers, top military leadership, and provincial chief ministers.
The agenda will focus on the current situation in the Middle East, including the ongoing conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel, as well as developments to date. The impact of attacks on Gulf countries will also be discussed.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is expected to brief the President on the four-nation foreign ministers’ meeting. The meeting will also review the status of petroleum reserves, supply management, and the implementation of austerity measures. Decisions regarding subsidies for motorcycle and rickshaw drivers are also expected to be made.
