LAHORE: Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah has issued a public apology following a controversial social media post that sparked concern. He clarified that the content was shared by his management team and did not reflect his personal views. Despite this, Naseem Shah accepted full responsibility for everything posted on his account and acknowledged the importance of accountability.
He confirmed that steps have been taken to prevent similar incidents in the future, including tighter control and oversight of his official accounts. Naseem Shah expressed sincere regret over the misuse of his platform and reiterated his commitment to maintaining trust with his followers.
Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) found Naseem Shah guilty of violating multiple clauses of his central contract and imposed a fine of Rs20 million. The decision followed a show-cause notice issued on March 27 and a formal hearing conducted by a three-member disciplinary committee.
In addition to penalizing Naseem Shah, the PCB blacklisted his social media advisor, barring them from working with any player in the future. The board stated that the advisor’s role in the incident was inappropriate and against professional standards. The PCB emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and discipline, warning that strict action will be taken against any violations in the future.
