KARACHI: Sindh’s senior minister, Sharjeel Memon, announced that the provincial government has placed Karachi on high alert ahead of expected rainfall. Authorities have completed all preparatory measures to manage potential flooding, and staff leaves have been canceled to ensure full operational readiness.
Additional dewatering pumps have been installed across the city to remove water from low-lying areas, while critical chokepoints have been identified and monitoring personnel deployed to prevent traffic disruptions and waterlogging. Municipal officers and relevant agencies have also been instructed to remain on standby for rapid response.
Meteorological officials have forecast intermittent light to heavy rainfall throughout the day, prompting authorities to urge residents to take precautions, avoid waterlogged areas, and stay updated on official alerts. The government’s proactive measures aim to minimise disruption and safeguard public safety amid the anticipated wet conditions.
