GILGIT: Force Command Northern Areas (FCNA) commander Maj Gen Syed Imtiaz Gillani visited Shigar district in Gilgit-Baltistan, where he met families of martyrs and community leaders and stressed national unity and dialogue amid regional challenges. The visit focused on peace, stability, and the role of local communities in maintaining harmony.

During the visit on Saturday, the FCNA commander met families of martyred soldiers, retired military personnel, and local elders. He expressed grief over recent developments in the region and paid tribute to those who lost their lives.
Referring to the changing global environment, he said the situation could have implications for Pakistan and emphasised that unity, foresight, and collective responsibility are essential in current circumstances. He also raised concern over violent incidents reported on March 1, calling the loss of lives tragic and stressing that maintaining peace is a shared responsibility.
He said state institutions are continuing efforts to address unrest within the framework of law, while prioritising dialogue, consultation, and cooperation to resolve issues in a constructive manner.
Participants of the meeting highlighted the importance of community engagement and reaffirmed their support for peace and stability in the region. The commander praised the people of Gilgit-Baltistan for their patriotism and contributions to national cohesion, expressing confidence in their continued role in promoting stability and development.
