MEHAR: A 10-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a speeding passenger coach near Degree College on the Indus Highway in Mehar, police said.

Ali Khan, son of Nadir Ali Khoso and a resident of Hasil Khoso village, was riding a bicycle when he was struck by the vehicle near the Mehar bypass. He was taken to Taluka Hospital Mehar in an unconscious state, where doctors later confirmed his death.
After completing legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family. Relatives said scenes of grief unfolded at the home, with the boy’s mother reportedly fainting several times.
Police said the coach had been taken into custody and the driver arrested.
Family members accused the local administration, motorway authorities and police of negligence, saying over-speeding passenger coaches on the Indus Highway had made accidents a frequent occurrence. They called for strict action against reckless drivers and demanded improved highway patrols to prevent further loss of life.
