SUKKUR: A peaceful protest by IBA 40+ PST/JEST waiting teacher candidates entered its 301st day in Sukkur, with demonstrators saying that despite nearly ten months passing, they had yet to receive what they described as their rightful due of merit, justice and employment.
Male and female candidates continued their احتجاج outside the Khairpur Press Club, where protest leaders including Ayaz Magsi, Atta-ur-Rehman Shaikh and Zia-ur-Rehman Phulpoto said the delay had left many young people across Sindh in prolonged uncertainty.
They said that two months had passed since a special committee was formed in the Sindh Assembly in favour of the IBA 40+ waiting teacher candidates, but no decision had been taken and no meeting had been held. The protesters appealed to Syed Awais Qadir Shah, chairman of the committee, to take immediate action and announce a decision regarding the recruitment of all candidates.
The protesters said the ongoing DRC revision process in Khairpur district should be completed transparently and its merit-based results announced without delay so that deserving candidates could receive justice. They also called for the cancellation of what they described as fake degrees, fake disability certificates and fake offer orders, and demanded that genuine candidates be given their rightful positions.
They further demanded the immediate recruitment of all IBA 40+ waiting candidates across Sindh, the transparent announcement of DRC revision results, approval of a new SNE strictly on an STR basis, an extension in the recruitment period, and the declaration of all vacant posts followed by merit-based recruitment.
The protest leaders warned that if their demands were not met soon, the scope of the protest would be expanded, adding that a larger demonstration at Bilawal House in Karachi would be announced in the coming days.
