SUKKUR: Police stopped an underage marriage in village Jan Muhammad Sahito within the jurisdiction of Kumb police station in Khairpur, officials said on 27 April 2026.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided the venue and took the underage groom, Zulfiqar Ali Shanbani, and the bride, Gulshiran, into protective custody.
The groom’s uncle, Sobel, and brother, Ilyas, were arrested on the spot.
Police officials said a case had been registered at Kumb police station under the Child Marriage Restraint Act 2025 on behalf of the state.
Ameer Saud Magsi said child marriage was a criminal offence and strict action would continue against those involved.
