KARACHI: Hundreds of people associated with Tando Adam gathered in Karachi for a large and unprecedented reunion, where more than 400 attendees came together to reconnect, share memories and celebrate their shared roots.
Participants warmly greeted one another, embraced after long separations and exchanged congratulations, as prominent figures from Tando Adam attended the event. Among the notable guests were Arif Habib, Sheikh Khalid Tawab, Ikram Rajput, M Zubair Habib, Mujahid Akbar, Qazi Abdul Muqtadir, Muntazir Mehdi, Jam Sadiq Ali, Jam Farooq, Commander Shaukat Ali, Amir Farooqi and Dr Saleem Haider.
The event was organised by Israr Ahmed Khan, Shah Nawaz Khan, Ijaz Ahmed Sheikh, Abdul Rasheed Kausar, Mir Muhammad Shah, Feroz Ghori and Ishaq Qureshi, who were credited with making the gathering a success.
Speakers at the event described Tando Adam as the “Paris of Sindh” and proposed that future editions of the gathering should be held in Tando Adam itself. They expressed a commitment to preserving the history of their elders and keeping the name of the town alive.
A wide range of prominent figures from business, government and public service also attended, including business leader Muhammad Hanif Gohar, additional director general FIA Mujahid Akbar, former deputy governor State Bank Qazi Abdul Muqtadir, DIG Amir Farooqi, former DIG South Shaukat Ali, and prosecutor general Sindh Muntazir Mehdi, among others.
During the ceremony, shields and traditional ajrak were presented to individuals who had shown distinction in various fields. Those honored included Shehryar Chanda, a soldier martyred in action against militants, Bisma Solangi, who developed glasses designed to alert sleeping drivers, Dr Asif Ahmed, a gold medalist, and Engineer Abdul Qadir Durras, a national debate champion.
More than 200 participants had travelled from Tando Adam to attend. The gathering was marked by emotional reunions, with attendees meeting after years, sharing memories and exchanging greetings. The event concluded with a dinner.
