UPPER SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: An assistant sub-inspector of Police Station Sarwekai, Mirjan Shah, was injured in an ambush by unidentified armed men near Madina Morh.

Police said the attack took place when the officer was returning to the station after leave. As he reached Madina Morh, six to seven armed assailants opened indiscriminate fire.
The officer returned fire, forcing the attackers to flee. During the exchange, he sustained minor injuries to his hand and shoulder as two bullets grazed him.
On receiving information, the SHO along with a police contingent reached the site, cordoned off the area and tightened security. The injured officer was shifted to Army Hospital 315 Brigade Sarwekai, where he was receiving treatment.
Police said an investigation was under way and search operations had been launched to trace the attackers.
