KHYBER: Hashim Khan Afridi, president of the Bara Political Alliance, said a peace march would be held against rising insecurity, as he accused the government and institutions of failing to restore law and order in Khyber district.
Speaking at a press conference at the District Press Club Khyber along with his associates, he said the law and order situation in the district, particularly in Bara tehsil, had been deteriorating day by day, while the provincial and federal governments and security institutions appeared unable to ensure peace.
He said growing insecurity, targeted killings and an atmosphere of fear had left residents facing serious difficulties. He added that despite the sacrifices made by people in the tribal districts for the restoration of peace, there had been no visible improvement in the situation.
Afridi announced that a peace march against insecurity would be held on Tuesday, 12 May, in Peshawar up to the Sher Shah Suri bridge. He appealed to the people of Khyber district, particularly those from Landi Kotal, to participate fully in the march and raise their voice for peace.
Other leaders of the Bara Political Alliance were also present at the press conference and urged the public to maintain unity and continue their peaceful struggle.
