KARACHI: A woman arrested in a drugs and illegal weapons case was sent to jail on judicial remand after being presented in court without handcuffs, prompting an inquiry by police authorities.
The suspect, identified as Anmol alias Pinky, was produced before a court following her arrest in Karachi.
Karachi police chief Azad Khan took notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry into why the accused was brought to court without handcuffs.
A police spokesperson said instructions had been issued to determine the responsibility of concerned officers, adding that violations of law and standard operating procedures would not be tolerated.
Officials said disciplinary action is likely against those found responsible, stressing that all police personnel are bound to follow rules and regulations.
