SUKKUR: Shikarpur police recovered stolen property worth approximately Rs 3.9 million and arrested the main suspect in a robbery case that occurred six months ago, Deputy Superintendent of Police Garhi Yasin Munir Ahmed Phulpoto said at a press conference.
He said four unidentified armed men had stormed the house of Hafiz Manzoor Mangi six months earlier and carried out a robbery.
Following directives from DIG Larkana Nasir Aftab, SSP Shikarpur Muhammad Kaleem formed a special team comprising DSP Garhi Yasin Munir Ahmed Phulpoto, the Station House Officer of Dakan, IT in-charge and other senior officers to investigate the case.
Police said the team used an effective strategy to trace the case and arrested the main suspect, identified as Muhammad Noor Brohi, a resident of Ratodero. Gold jewellery, a repeater gun, an LCD television and mobile phones worth around Rs 3.9 million were recovered from his possession.
The case had been registered on the complaint of Hafiz Manzoor Ahmed Mangi, after which police launched operations to identify and trace those involved. Raids were continuing to arrest other suspects linked to the case, while further interrogation of the arrested suspect was under way.
The complainant, Hafiz Manzoor Ahmed Mangi, thanked Shikarpur police for the successful operation.
SSP Shikarpur Muhammad Kaleem appreciated the special investigation team and announced a Class-III commendation certificate for its members, according to a police spokesperson.
