SUKKUR: Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur had withdrawn its faculty hiring advertisement after it was challenged by a petitioner in the Sukkur bench of the High Court.
The counsel for Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur submitted a written affidavit to the court, stating that the administration had withdrawn advertisement No. Admin/Teach dated 15/01/2026, which had related to posts including professors, assistant professors, lecturers, registrar, controller of examinations, director QEC and director ORIC.
It was further stated that, after revisiting the university code 2021 and in light of the eligibility criteria prescribed by the Higher Education Commission, a fresh advertisement would be issued strictly in accordance with applicable legal frameworks and only after ensuring compliance with relevant rules.
Following the written statement by the university’s counsel confirming that no appointments would be made under the challenged advertisement, the petitioner withdrew the petition.
A double bench of the High Court circuit bench Sukkur comprising Justice Amjad Ali Bohio and Justice Ali Hyder, after submission of affidavits by both the petitioner and university authorities, disposed of the petition as not pressed.
The petition had been filed by Ali Nawaz Chandio through his counsel Advocate Ghulam Shabbir Shar, who had challenged the advertisement for various academic and administrative posts, alleging that the university was attempting to appoint favoured candidates in violation of rules and regulations without updating the university code after the 18th Amendment.
It was also reported that the administration of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur had completed preliminary scrutiny and verification of applicants and had already prepared a list of qualifying candidates for the posts before the matter was taken to court.
