KARACHI, The Special Investigation Unit and CIA Karachi carried out an intelligence-based operation in the jurisdiction of Chakiwara police station and arrested an active online drug dealer, officials said on Friday.
According to a statement issued by the SIU CIA spokesperson, the operation was conducted in coordination with a federal civilian intelligence agency, leading to the recovery of a substantial quantity of narcotics.
The arrested suspect was identified as Muhammad Waqas, son of Muhammad Iqbal. Officials said he was apprehended while en route to deliver a parcel of drugs ordered online.
Police recovered 880 grams of weed from his possession, which was taken into custody as evidence. Authorities said the suspect had been involved in selling drugs through social media platforms and other online channels, supplying narcotics to different areas of Karachi.
During initial interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to running an online drug network and using digital platforms to reach customers across the city. Officials said further investigations were underway to trace the digital network, financial transactions and possible accomplices involved in the illegal operation.
