HANGU: Final matches of cricket and football tournaments held under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s good governance programme concluded with enthusiasm in Hangu district, where a large number of players and spectators witnessed the closing events.
Commissioner Kohat Division, Mutasim Billah Shah, attended the concluding ceremony as chief guest and praised the performance of participating teams. Players who performed well in the finals were widely appreciated, while winning teams received congratulations for their achievements.
Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner said the provincial government was taking practical and effective steps for the promotion of sports and the welfare of young people. He said youth were a valuable asset of any nation and it was essential to guide them towards positive activities.
He said that modern sports complexes had been established in Kohat Division as well as other districts of the province, providing better facilities for young athletes. He added that several development projects were also under way to expand opportunities in education, technical training and employment.
The commissioner urged young people to adopt hard work, discipline and tolerance, and to stay away from negative activities. He said sports played an important role not only in maintaining physical health but also in building a peaceful and healthy society.
He further said that the promotion of sports helped steer young people away from drugs and other social evils, contributing to a more stable community environment.
At the end of the ceremony, cash prizes were distributed among winning teams and outstanding players. Participants appreciated the government’s efforts to promote sports in the region and expressed hope that such programmes would continue in the future.
