KARACHI: Two police personnel were injured in a firing incident in Malir on 18 June 2026, according to officials. Police said reinforcements were immediately dispatched to the scene after reports of the incident were received during the night.
The injured officers were identified as Head Constable Gul Muhammad and Police Constable Nadeem. Both were serving at Malir Cantt police station at the time of the incident. Police said the injured personnel were shifted to hospital shortly after the incident, where they were provided medical treatment. Officials confirmed that both officers were receiving necessary care.
Senior Superintendent of Police Malir took immediate notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the concerned officer. Authorities said an inquiry had been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Initial reports suggested that the two officers were injured in firing carried out by unidentified individuals. Police said efforts were under way to trace those involved and investigate all possible angles of the incident.
A police team along with the Crime Scene Unit reached the location soon after the incident and began collecting evidence. Investigators recovered a motorcycle and three bullet casings from the scene, which were taken into custody for forensic examination. Police said the recovered material would be analysed as part of the investigation to help establish the sequence of events and identify those responsible.
Authorities stated that the motive behind the attack and other factual details would be determined once the investigation was completed. They added that further updates would be shared as the inquiry progressed.
A spokesperson for Malir Police said the incident was being treated with seriousness and all available resources were being utilised to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the attack. He added that maintaining the safety of police personnel remained a priority and efforts were ongoing to ensure accountability in the case.
