SUKKUR: Ali Khurshidi visited Mirpurkhas on Wednesday, promising to raise the city’s issues in the Sindh Assembly and push for development projects to improve public services.
The opposition leader was welcomed by workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan, party office-bearers and local residents. During the visit, he met party workers, community leaders and people from different walks of life to discuss challenges facing the city, including healthcare, education, employment and development.
Khurshidi also toured several neighbourhoods, where he met residents, listened to their concerns and reviewed the condition of civic facilities.
Residents called for the establishment of a cardiac hospital, an institute for urology and transplantation, a general hospital, an information technology park and other essential public facilities.
Addressing supporters, Khurshidi said Mirpurkhas, despite being one of Sindh’s largest and historically significant cities, continued to face shortages of basic services.
He said the concerns of Mirpurkhas residents were his own and pledged to raise them in the Sindh Assembly and on other constitutional and democratic forums. He said access to healthcare, education, employment opportunities, infrastructure and modern public services were fundamental rights of every citizen.
Khurshidi said he would advocate for the establishment of specialised healthcare facilities, development projects and improved employment opportunities for young people in the city.
He added that his party viewed politics as a means of public service and would continue to pursue the city’s legitimate demands with the relevant authorities while working for its development.
During the visit, Khurshidi also called on senior journalist Qamaruddin Shaikh at his residence to inquire about his health and wished him a speedy recovery. He said journalists played an important role in strengthening democracy and promoting public awareness.
