KARACHI: Rotary International District 3271 formally began its 2026-27 year on Wednesday with a wreath-laying ceremony at the mausoleum of Pakistan’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, led by District Governor Shahzad Sabir.
Sabir was accompanied by members of his family as well as the district’s leadership team, including Vice Governor Past District Governor Dr Aftab Imam, Mentor Past District Governor Muhammad Hanif Khan, District Secretary Arif Siddiqui, advisers to the governor, deputy governors, assistant governors and other office-bearers.
The ceremony was hosted by the Rotary Club of Karachi Bay. Addressing the gathering, Sabir said paying tribute at the resting place of the country’s founder served as a reminder of the values of discipline, unity and faith.
He said the district would continue to work in line with Rotary International President Olayinka H. Babalola’s theme, “Create Lasting Impact”, while upholding Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self”. He said the district would focus on projects and partnerships aimed at improving the lives of communities across Sindh and Balochistan.
Rotary District 3271 said its member clubs would continue their work in key areas, including polio eradication, literacy, smart village development, water and sanitation, disease prevention and healthcare.
The district said these programs would remain central to its activities during the 2026-27 Rotary year, with further details of its major initiatives to be announced in the coming months. Rotary District 3271 represents clubs across Sindh and Balochistan and forms part of Rotary International’s global network of volunteers engaged in humanitarian and community service.
