KARACHI: Pakistani pharmaceutical products manufactured to European standards have the potential to secure a strong position in international markets, prominent businessman Khurram Khalil Nainitalwala said.
Speaking at a luncheon held in honour of German Consul General Thomas A. Schultze, Nainitalwala said Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry had the capability to produce world-class products by adopting modern technology. He said significant opportunities existed in European markets for oral care, beauty care and other pharmaceutical products that meet European quality standards. The event focused on bilateral trade, industrial cooperation and ways to increase exports between Pakistan and Germany.
Nainitalwala said Pakistan’s pharmaceutical sector had benefited from advanced machinery and technology imported from Germany, leading to higher production capacity and improved product quality. He expressed hope that stronger cooperation between the two countries would make it easier for Pakistani pharmaceutical products to access European markets.
Speaking at the event, German Consul General Thomas A. Schultze said Germany and other European countries represented important markets for Pakistani exporters. He pointed to the annual Heimtextil exhibition in Germany as an example of Europe’s strong demand for high-quality products.
He said Pakistani pharmaceutical manufacturers had promising prospects in Europe if they complied with European regulations, quality standards and certification requirements. The luncheon also included discussions on expanding bilateral trade, investment, technology transfer and economic cooperation, with participants stressing the need to further strengthen commercial ties between Pakistan and Germany.
