KARACHI: Senior police officials in Karachi’s West Zone have honoured members of the Shaheen Force with commendation certificates and cash awards in recognition of their role in separate police encounters targeting suspected street criminals.
According to a statement issued by the District Central Police, the awards were presented by DIG West Irfan Baloch and SSP District Central Dr Muhammad Imran Khan during a ceremony held on Monday.
Police said two suspected armed robbers were killed in an encounter within the Super Market police jurisdiction, while two more suspects were killed in a separate operation in the New Karachi Industrial Area.
Speaking at the ceremony, DIG Irfan Baloch and SSP Dr Muhammad Imran Khan praised the officers and personnel for what they described as courage, professionalism and dedication in carrying out operations against criminal elements.
The officers said effective action against street crime and other offences was essential to protecting the lives and property of citizens, adding that recognising outstanding performance helped boost morale within the police force.
They also directed officers to continue taking impartial and effective action against street crime and all other forms of criminal activity to help maintain a safe and secure environment for the public.
