HANGU: The Hangu district administration has reviewed preparations for the repatriation of undocumented Afghan nationals and the upcoming Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 during two separate high-level meetings, directing all relevant departments to expedite their arrangements.
The first meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Baseer Ali Rehman, focused on the implementation of government policy regarding the return of illegally residing Afghan nationals in the district.
Officials from the district administration and other relevant departments reviewed the latest progress on the repatriation process and discussed measures to ensure its smooth implementation. The deputy commissioner directed all concerned institutions to maintain close coordination, share information promptly and complete the required administrative arrangements in accordance with government guidelines.
He emphasised that effective interdepartmental cooperation would be essential to ensure the repatriation process was carried out in an organised and efficient manner.
In a separate meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief) Sohail Khan chaired a session to review preparations for the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026.
Officials discussed departmental plantation targets, proposed plantation sites and logistical arrangements for the campaign. Departments were instructed to submit their sapling requirements to the district administration without delay to ensure timely distribution before the start of the plantation drive.
The meeting decided to prioritise the planting of fruit-bearing and shade trees at government offices, educational institutions, health centres, prisons, protected areas and other public spaces across the district.
Addressing the meeting, Sohail Khan said the success of the campaign would depend not only on the number of trees planted but also on their proper protection, regular maintenance and long-term survival. He urged all departments to ensure effective monitoring so that every sapling could grow into a healthy tree.
The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to making the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 a success through coordinated efforts and efficient use of available resources, while continuing preparations for the repatriation of undocumented Afghan nationals in line with government policy.
