GAMBAT: Member of the National Assembly Dr Mahreen Razia Bhutto visited the Department of Oncology at Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) and launched a special awareness campaign aimed at promoting early detection and prevention of breast cancer among women.
Dr Mahreen Bhutto was received by Director GIMS Dr Raheem Bux Bhatti. Head of the Department of Oncology Dr Syed Muhammad Sibtain Shah, Consultant Oncologist Dr Muhammad Saleh Chandio and Consultant Radiologist Dr Hira Hanif Malik were also present on the occasion.
During the visit, Dr Raheem Bux Bhatti briefed the MNA about the advanced oncology services available at GIMS, including modern diagnostic facilities, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and the latest Siemens Mammography Unit. He said the institute was providing world-class cancer treatment facilities completely free of cost.
Dr Sibtain Shah shared details about the growing prevalence of breast cancer among women and stressed the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment to reduce risks and save lives.
Speaking during the awareness campaign, Dr Mahreen Bhutto expressed gratitude to Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the Sindh Health Minister for their support in strengthening healthcare facilities at GIMS.
“Today we have started this awareness campaign from our home district. GIMS has the latest mammography machines. As the figures shared by Dr Sibtain show, breast cancer cases are very high. I appeal to all women above the age of 35 years to undergo at least one mammography screening so that any signs of cancer can be detected at an early stage and lives can be saved,” she said.
She announced that mammography screening and complete cancer treatment facilities were available completely free of cost at GIMS Gambat.
Dr Mahreen Bhutto urged families to bring their mothers, sisters and daughters to the institute for timely screening and medical check-ups.
“I appeal to all men and women to bring their mothers, sisters and daughters to GIMS for timely check-ups and screening so that we can save the life of a mother, a sister and a daughter,” she said.
The MNA appreciated the efforts of Dr Raheem Bux Bhatti and his team for transforming GIMS Gambat into a centre of excellence by providing free and quality tertiary healthcare services to patients from across Pakistan.
