TEHRAN: A senior Iranian military commander Major General Ali Abdollahi has warned the United States that any hostile move or act of aggression against Tehran would face a “decisive and destructive” response from Iran’s armed forces.
Major General Ali Abdollahi, commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, issued the warning in a statement carried by Iranian state media. He accused Washington of continuing what he described as a hostile approach towards Iran and said the country’s military remained prepared to defend its sovereignty and national interests.
Abdollahi said Iran had closely monitored developments and would not allow any threat to undermine its security. He described the United States as a “criminal and deceptive enemy” and said Tehran would continue efforts to strengthen coordination among its armed forces, government institutions and the Iranian people.
The Iranian commander claimed that any confrontation with Iran would result in a greater cost for the United States than previous conflicts. He did not provide details of what measures Iran could take but said the country had gained significant experience in dealing with military and political pressures over the years.
His remarks came amid continued tensions between Tehran and Washington, with both sides frequently exchanging warnings over regional security issues, military activities and political disputes.
Abdollahi said Iran’s opponents had failed to achieve their objectives through military pressure and were now trying to create differences between the Iranian leadership and the public. He accused foreign powers of attempting to weaken national unity through political and psychological pressure.
The commander said Iran’s defence strength remained a key factor in maintaining stability across the country. He added that the armed forces were capable of protecting Iran’s borders and ensuring security from the northern regions to the southern areas and from the eastern frontier to the western parts of the country.
He also stressed that cooperation between the military, state institutions and citizens would remain central to Iran’s defence strategy. According to him, national unity would prevent external forces from influencing Iran’s internal affairs.
The statement reflected Tehran’s continued emphasis on military readiness at a time when relations between Iran and the United States remained tense. Iranian officials have repeatedly warned that any attack on the country would trigger a strong response.
