KOTDIJI: Taluka Hospital Kotdiji had remained in a state of neglect for several months. The Medical Superintendent (MS) appeared unable to ensure that doctors and staff performed their duties. The MS himself reportedly remained busy chatting with friends in his office while patients were left to suffer.
According to the report, most doctors and staff were reportedly “on visa” instead of attending their duties. As a result, patients who visited the hospital for treatment faced severe hardship. Taluka Hospital already suffered from a lack of facilities and medicines, and the appointment of the current MS had reportedly worsened the situation.
Patients, including Ahad Ali, Ali Nawaz Solangi, Musamat Naseeban, Sabhai Khatoon and others, said they came to the hospital for treatment, but doctors did not arrive even by 12:00pm, forcing them to return disappointed. The patients claimed that most doctors prioritised their private hospitals over their duties at the hospital. Some also alleged that the MS spent most of his time socialising in his office instead of attending to patients.
Local political and social leaders, along with residents, demanded that Provincial Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho and the Health Secretary take notice of the situation and take action against the doctors and staff who allegedly remained absent from Taluka Hospital Kotdiji.
