HANGU: Senior officials of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government have directed the Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) Kohat to further improve its sanitation and municipal services, with a focus on cleaner neighbourhoods and more efficient public service delivery.
The directives were issued during a briefing attended by Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam, Provincial Information Minister Shafi Jan and Member of the National Assembly Shehryar Afridi. The meeting reviewed the company’s performance, ongoing development projects and future strategy for improving civic services.
WSSC Kohat Chief Executive Officer Saad Qureshi and board members told the meeting that measures were under way to enhance solid waste management, drainage and sanitation services. They said work on several development projects was progressing to ensure better and more timely services for residents.
Participants reviewed the city’s sanitation conditions, challenges facing the waste management system, the efficient use of available resources and future development plans. Officials also outlined recent initiatives aimed at improving complaint resolution, increasing the efficiency of cleaning operations and modernizing service delivery.
The provincial ministers and Mr Afridi said providing quality municipal services remained a government priority and stressed that all relevant institutions must carry out their responsibilities effectively. They called for a coordinated strategy to strengthen sanitation services and ensure the timely resolution of public concerns.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to further improve sanitation and other civic services through closer coordination among relevant departments, while making full use of available resources to provide sustainable solutions to residents’ concerns.
