ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi, during which both sides discussed regional developments and emphasized the importance of diplomacy and dialogue for maintaining peace and stability.
The conversation came as diplomatic efforts continued to gain attention following the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, with both officials highlighting the need for constructive engagement among relevant parties to achieve lasting solutions to regional challenges.
According to the Foreign Office, the two leaders exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and reaffirmed the significance of continued communication and peaceful dialogue. They stressed that diplomatic engagement remained essential for addressing complex issues and promoting greater stability at both regional and international levels.
During the discussion, IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi expressed hope that all parties would continue the process of dialogue and engagement after the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. He said sustained diplomatic efforts could help create conditions for a peaceful and durable outcome.
Grossi also briefed Senator Ishaq Dar about his candidacy for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations. In response, the deputy prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the United Nations and the principles of effective multilateralism.
Senator Ishaq Dar said Pakistan continued to support international institutions and believed in collective efforts to address global challenges through cooperation and dialogue. He underlined the importance of strengthening multilateral platforms to promote peace, security and development.
