KARACHI: The Sindh government has declared Wednesday, 29 July, a public holiday across the province to mark the annual Urs of renowned Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
A notification issued by the provincial government said all provincial government offices and educational institutions would remain closed on the day in observance of the occasion.
The annual Urs celebrations will be held at Bhit Shah, where thousands of devotees from across Sindh and other parts of the country are expected to gather to pay tribute to the revered Sufi saint and poet.
The multi-day event traditionally features religious ceremonies, cultural performances, poetry recitals and devotional music, attracting large numbers of pilgrims and visitors each year.
Authorities are expected to make security and administrative arrangements to facilitate devotees attending the celebrations.
