KARACHI: A fresh spell of monsoon rain is expected to affect parts of Pakistan, including Karachi, during the first week of August, according to weather forecasts, although forecasters say the outlook could change.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said Karachi is likely to experience hot and humid weather over the next three days, with partly cloudy skies and the possibility of light drizzle.
Maximum temperatures in the city are expected to range between 34°C and 36°C during the period.
Across Sindh, hot and humid conditions are forecast to persist on Tuesday, while Tharparkar district may receive light rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, a private weather forecasting organisation said low-pressure systems could develop over the Bay of Bengal during the first 10 days of August, potentially triggering a spell of heavy rainfall in northern Pakistan.
The forecaster also said one or two rain spells could affect Sindh and Balochistan, with Karachi also having a chance of rainfall during the first week of August.
However, the organisation noted that the forecast is based on a long-range weather outlook and remains subject to change as weather systems develop.
