KHYBER: A Rs720 million renovation project for the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Landi Kotal has been officially launched, with construction work scheduled to begin on Tuesday.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Sahibzada Muhammad Adnan Qadri, Naveed Khan Afridi, brother of Chief Minister Suhail Afridi, Medical Superintendent Dr Jameel Khan and other officials.
Speaking at the event, Qadri said the funding had been approved through the special efforts of the chief minister to modernise and upgrade the hospital’s facilities.
Under the project, all hospital buildings will undergo renovation, while roads, the drainage system, wards, outpatient department (OPD), emergency unit and other sections will be upgraded. Officials said the scheme is expected to be completed within two years.
The minister said the project would significantly improve healthcare services and provide better treatment facilities for patients across the region.
Responding to a question, Qadri also announced that additional specialist doctors would soon be appointed to the hospital. He warned that legal action would be taken against staff found absent from duty.
He said the provincial government aimed to bring DHQ Hospital Landi Kotal in line with other major public hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by providing quality healthcare services, particularly for low-income and vulnerable patients.
