DHAKA: Pakistan and Bangladesh discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in police training, professional development and institutional capacity building during a meeting in Dhaka, as both countries looked to expand collaboration between their law enforcement institutions.
Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider met Kazi Md Fazlul Karim, BPM-Sheba, Rector of the Police Staff College, Dhaka, at the latter’s office. The two sides exchanged views on enhancing professional ties and developing stronger links between relevant police institutions of both countries.
The discussions focused on expanding training programs and capacity-building initiatives aimed at improving the skills and effectiveness of police personnel. Both sides explored opportunities to share expertise, exchange knowledge and develop areas of mutual interest to support modern policing practices.
During the visit, the High Commissioner also toured various facilities of the Police Staff College and observed its training activities. He interacted with course participants and discussed the importance of professional learning, institutional development and continued cooperation in the field of law enforcement.
The engagement was expected to open new avenues for closer institutional cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Officials said stronger links between police training institutions would contribute to greater understanding, professional exchange and people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
The visit highlighted the role of institutional partnerships in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting cooperation beyond traditional diplomatic channels. Both countries have continued efforts to expand collaboration in areas of shared interest, including security, education and professional capacity development.
