KAMBER: The Kamber-Shahdadkot district administration has intensified preparations for the monsoon season, with Deputy Commissioner Kamran Hussain Mushtaq inspecting ongoing flood protection works to assess the district’s readiness for potential flooding.
The inspection covered the stretch from Katchi Pul to Gaibi Dero, where the deputy commissioner reviewed protective embankments and other flood mitigation measures alongside the Executive Engineer (XEN) of the Irrigation Department’s Gaj Division and other senior officials.
During the visit, officials briefed the deputy commissioner on the progress of ongoing flood protection schemes and the measures being taken to reinforce vulnerable locations ahead of the expected monsoon rains.
Mr Mushtaq directed the Irrigation Department and other concerned authorities to maintain round-the-clock vigilance and ensure that all flood protection works were completed on schedule. He also instructed officials to keep machinery, equipment and emergency response teams fully prepared to respond swiftly to any flood-related situation.
Emphasising the importance of public safety, the deputy commissioner said there would be no compromise on protecting lives, property and public infrastructure. He called for continuous monitoring of flood-prone areas and close coordination among all relevant departments to ensure an effective response if water levels rise.
The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening flood preparedness through proactive planning and timely preventive measures, aiming to minimise risks for communities living in vulnerable areas during the monsoon season.
