KARACHI: Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho visited the headquarters and Command and Control Centre of Rescue 1122, where he reviewed the emergency response system and called for closer coordination between public safety agencies.
The police chief was received by Rescue 1122 Director General Brigadier (Retired) Sibghatullah Mahar, Chief Operating Officer Dr Abid Jalal Sheikh, and other senior officials. A guard of honor was presented on his arrival.
During the visit, Odho was briefed on Rescue 1122’s emergency response system, call monitoring procedures, dispatch mechanism, specialized equipment, rescue vehicles and the operations of its modern control room.
Officials also outlined the organization’s structure, objectives and the functioning of its Command and Control Centre.
Speaking on the occasion, Odho said the Sindh government had established Rescue 1122 to strengthen emergency services across the province and praised the organization for its performance since its inception.
He said Sindh Police and Rescue 1122 routinely work together during emergencies and that such institutional exchanges help improve coordination and operational effectiveness.
The police chief stressed that providing timely, efficient and high-quality emergency services remains a shared responsibility of all public institutions. He also underlined the importance of adopting modern technology, digital monitoring systems and professional training to improve rescue operations.
Odho described Rescue 1122 personnel as experienced and highly professional, adding that protecting lives and property requires all relevant agencies to work together under a coordinated strategy.
He said special attention was being given to personnel training, operational capacity and the availability of modern equipment, noting that Sindh Police was also providing training to Rescue 1122 staff.
Emphasising the importance of rapid emergency response, Odho said effective planning to reduce response times was essential in dealing with emergencies. The visit concluded with the exchange of commemorative shields between the Sindh police chief and the director general of Rescue 1122.
