ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reduced the prices of petrol and diesel for three days, with the Petroleum Division issuing a notification announcing the new rates.
Under the notification, the price of high-speed diesel has been cut by 66 paise per litre, bringing its new price to Rs392.38 per litre. The price of petrol has been reduced by 12 paise per litre, with the new rate set at Rs336.03 per litre.
The government has also reduced the price of kerosene by Rs1.22 per litre, bringing it down to Rs305.22 per litre. The Petroleum Division said the revised prices would remain effective from August 1 to August 3.
The short-term revision comes as the government continues to monitor developments in the region. Authorities have decided to determine petroleum prices on a daily basis in view of the deteriorating regional situation and fluctuations in international oil markets.
The latest reduction follows a previous increase announced for July 31. Diesel had been increased by Rs2.42 per litre, while petrol had risen by Rs1.09 per litre. The government’s decision to make more frequent adjustments reflects the volatility in global oil prices and the potential impact of regional tensions on energy supplies and international crude markets.
The changes are being closely watched by consumers and businesses, as petroleum prices directly affect transport costs, freight charges and the prices of goods and services across the country.
