KAMBER: District Health Officer (DHO) Kamber-Shahdadkot Dr Gulzar Ali Tunio has launched an awareness drive ahead of an upcoming polio booster campaign, urging parents to ensure their children receive vaccination drops during the campaign period from August 8 to 17.
In a video message, Dr Tunio said polio was a dangerous and incurable disease, while vaccination remained the most effective way to protect children from the virus. He urged parents to ensure that eligible children receive the required polio drops.
He specifically appealed to families in Taluka Kamber to ensure that children aged between four months and 10 years receive the polio booster dose during the campaign.
The DHO said health department teams would visit homes and neighbourhoods to administer booster doses and vaccinate eligible children. He urged parents and members of the public to cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure that no child was missed.
Polio teams will also conduct door-to-door vaccination activities in other parts of Kamber-Shahdadkot district, according to the health authorities.
Dr Tunio urged residents not to believe rumours or misleading information about polio vaccination, stressing that public cooperation was essential for the success of the campaign and for protecting children from the disease.
He said the district administration was providing full support for the campaign, including security arrangements for vaccination teams and coordination of field activities.
Political, social, religious and business representatives in the district welcomed the awareness initiative, saying that continued engagement with communities could help address misconceptions about polio vaccination and strengthen parents’ confidence in immunisation.
The DHO appealed to families to cooperate with vaccination teams during the campaign and ensure that all eligible children receive the booster dose.
