RAWALPINDI: Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said that the friendship between Pakistan and China is time-tested and has consistently stood firm against every challenge.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a ceremony marking the 99th anniversary of the founding of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) was held at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
China’s Defence Attaché Major General Wang Zhong, officials from the Chinese embassy and senior officers of Pakistan’s three armed forces were also present.
Field Marshal Asim Munir welcomed the distinguished guests and congratulated the People’s Liberation Army on its 99th anniversary.
Paying tribute to the PLA for its contributions to China’s defence, national development and global peace and security, the field marshal said Pakistan-China friendship had remained strong despite changing regional and global challenges.
He said the relationship between the two countries was based on mutual trust, understanding and enduring strategic cooperation, adding that the longstanding friendship had continued to strengthen over the years.
According to ISPR, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong expressed gratitude to Field Marshal Asim Munir for hosting the ceremony.
The Chinese ambassador also appreciated the services and sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces in the fight against terrorism.
Jiang Zaidong reaffirmed China’s continued support for Pakistan and expressed his commitment to further strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership and defence cooperation between the two countries.
The ceremony highlighted the close defence and strategic ties between Pakistan and China and the continued commitment of both sides to deepening their longstanding partnership.
