KARACHI: Federal Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reforming and strengthening the healthcare system to ensure that basic medical facilities were available to people closer to their homes.
Addressing the upgradation and expansion ceremony of the Government Jacob Line Dispensary in Karachi, the minister said improving healthcare access remained a key priority and efforts were being made to transform existing health facilities to better serve communities.
Mustafa Kamal stressed that a healthy society could not be created without ensuring cleanliness and better living standards. He said maintaining hygiene in all areas of life was essential for preventing diseases and improving public health outcomes.
The minister announced that five dispensaries in Karachi were being upgraded into secondary care health facilities. He said the upgraded centers would operate round the clock, providing patients with improved medical services and reducing pressure on larger hospitals.
He said the expansion of local healthcare facilities would help people receive timely treatment within their own neighborhoods. The initiative, he added, was part of broader government efforts to improve the country’s healthcare infrastructure and make essential medical services more accessible.
The ceremony marked another step towards strengthening primary and secondary healthcare services in Karachi, where population growth has increased demand for affordable and reliable medical facilities. Officials said the upgraded dispensaries would provide enhanced services and play a greater role in meeting the healthcare needs of local communities.
