ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has issued a vehement condemnation of the Israeli attack on Al-Tabeen School in eastern Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of over 100 civilians and injuries to many more. The assault occurred on Saturday, targeting an overcrowded school that was serving as a shelter for displaced persons. Many of those present were engaged in morning prayers at the time of the attack.

In a statement released by the Foreign Office, the spokesperson described the attack as a “horrific, inhuman, and cowardly act.” The spokesperson condemned the indiscriminate targeting of civilian populations and facilities, asserting that such actions represent a severe violation of international humanitarian law and amount to war crimes.

The Foreign Office statement emphasized that the assault on a civilian shelter is a blatant disregard for human life and legal norms. “The attack on Al-Tabeen School, which was packed with innocent civilians seeking refuge, is an egregious act of violence. It not only disregards the sanctity of life but also violates the core principles of international humanitarian law,” the statement read.

Pakistan has called for immediate accountability for the perpetrators of these atrocities. The statement underscored that “Israel must be held responsible for these war crimes and the ongoing genocide in Gaza.” It further urged the international community, including the United Nations and nations that support Israel, to take decisive and effective measures to halt the violence in Gaza and safeguard the rights and lives of its inhabitants. The statement highlighted Pakistan’s position that such attacks undermine peace efforts and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

By calling on the international community to act, Pakistan seeks to bring attention to the urgent need for justice and protection for the civilians affected by the conflict. This condemnation reflects Pakistan’s continued stance against actions that threaten civilian safety and violate international norms, reinforcing its call for an end to the violence and a resolution to the ongoing conflict in the region.
