LEICESTER: A community reception was held in Leicester to honor Lord Mayor Kulvinder Singh Johal and recognize the contributions of the British Pakistani community to the city’s social, economic and charitable development.
The event was organized by the British Pakistan Association Leicestershire and brought together community leaders, business figures, social activists and representatives from different sectors. The gathering highlighted the role of the British Pakistani community in strengthening civic life, supporting charitable causes and promoting cultural harmony in the multicultural city.
The reception was led by British Pakistan Association Leicestershire Chairman Tanveer Hussain Gondal, along with community figure Muhammad Arif Jinnah. The organizers said the event aimed to encourage greater engagement, unity and cooperation among communities while recognizing individuals working for social progress.
Addressing the gathering, Lord Mayor Kulvinder Singh Johal praised the association and its members for their commitment to public service. He said the guests represented dedicated citizens who were actively contributing to the betterment of Leicester through community work, entrepreneurship and leadership.
The Lord Mayor said Leicester’s diversity remained one of its greatest strengths and emphasized the importance of maintaining mutual respect, cooperation and friendship among different communities. He added that collective efforts were essential to building a more inclusive and stronger society.
He also acknowledged the long-standing contribution of the British Pakistani community to Leicester’s development, saying its role in business, social initiatives and charitable activities had become an important part of the city’s identity.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Tanveer Hussain Gondal reaffirmed the association’s commitment to supporting British Pakistanis, encouraging youth development and expanding welfare initiatives.
