KARACHI: Uzbekistan’s private carrier Centrum Air will begin operating direct scheduled flights between Tashkent and Karachi from 3 September, marking a further expansion of air connectivity between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
According to an official announcement, the new service has been introduced through the joint efforts of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan and the aviation and transport authorities of both countries.
The direct Tashkent–Karachi–Tashkent route will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, providing faster and more convenient travel for business travelers, tourists, students and pilgrims.
Officials said the new route is expected to strengthen transport links between the two countries and could also serve as an important gateway connecting not only Uzbekistan but the wider Central Asian region with Karachi, Pakistan’s principal port city.
With the launch of the Karachi service, scheduled air links between Pakistan and Uzbekistan will expand to eight flights a week. At present, four weekly flights operate between Tashkent and Lahore, while two weekly services connect Islamabad with Tashkent.
The addition of the twice-weekly Karachi route will further enhance regional connectivity and support growing economic and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
