KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah held a meeting with World Bank Country Director Bolormaa Amgaabazar on Monday to discuss a comprehensive strategy aimed at reducing child stunting and improving nutrition outcomes across the province.
The meeting focused on strengthening efforts to address malnutrition among children and developing effective measures to improve health indicators through coordinated interventions. The chief minister highlighted the Sindh government’s commitment to improving maternal and child health and ensuring better nutrition facilities for vulnerable communities.
Murad Ali Shah said tackling child stunting required a long-term and multi-sectoral approach involving health, food security, education, clean water and social protection programs. He stressed the need for stronger collaboration with development partners to design sustainable solutions and expand successful initiatives across the province.
The World Bank country director discussed possible areas of cooperation with the provincial government to support nutrition-related programs and improve outcomes for children. The two sides reviewed opportunities for enhancing technical support, strengthening healthcare systems and ensuring that targeted interventions reached communities most affected by malnutrition.
Officials said reducing stunting remained a major public health priority, as poor nutrition during early childhood could affect physical growth, learning abilities and overall development. They added that coordinated policies and evidence-based programs were essential to achieve measurable improvements.
The meeting was part of ongoing efforts by the Sindh government to build partnerships with international development organizations for improving social sector services and addressing key challenges affecting public health.
Both sides agreed on the importance of continued cooperation and coordinated planning to accelerate progress towards better nutrition outcomes and healthier futures for children across Sindh.
