KINGSTON: Pakistan began losing their grip on the second Test against the West Indies on the third day as a sudden collapse left the visitors five wickets down after resuming their innings at 266 for two.
Babar Azam, who had ended the previous day on 86, appeared under pressure while attempting to reach his century. He struggled to play his shots freely and added only two runs to his overnight score before being run out for 88.
The West Indies bowlers then mounted an impressive comeback. Vireicon dismissed Awais Zafar, who had scored just one run, before Shamar Joseph sent Salman Ali Agha back to the pavilion without scoring.
The two quick wickets left Pakistan at 286 for five, putting the team under increasing pressure after a promising start to the innings. Centurion Abdullah Shafique remained at the crease with newly arrived batter Mohammad Rizwan as Pakistan looked to rebuild their innings and secure a strong position in the match.
The West Indies were bowled out for 344 in their first innings. The hosts currently lead the two-match series 1-0, meaning Pakistan must win the second Test to level the series. With the middle order under pressure and the West Indies gaining momentum, Pakistan will need a substantial partnership from Shafique and Rizwan to prevent the match from slipping further away.
